...Oh I see. I... just don't see the death penalty as likely to be any more effective in disincentivising rape culture than it is in disincentivising anything else. Plus, those people have families and friends and donate to charity and generally make the world a better place even if they also occasionally do really sucky things too, so I'd really rather convince them to stop doing the sucky things rather than end their entire lives. If it takes ending their careers, then sure -- though that's an "if", and if they can be convinced short of ending their careers then even better, that way we get to keep their skills -- but not their lives.
