JA probably still does not understand how such word choices are so very unwise andhurtful in a national climate of discourse that includes judges sending out a group e-mail that included a 'joke' in which it was stated the mother of the sitting POTUS had sex with a dog. That judge still says the joke wasn't racist, because he's not racist. He just liked the joke because he hates the POTUS. Because he hates the POTUS sending around a joke that says the mother of the POTUS had sex with animal is just fine.
This country doesn't need a guy like that as a sitting judge, and sfwa really doesn't need a guy like JA as a representative.
It's because of all this garbage that I quit sfwa some years back. Basically things just don't change -- just as JA's platform included yet again opening the hornest's nest that proposals to change qualification and membership rankings always are -- and then things go back to how they were, and then it all comes back again, ovr and over. Wrangling over membership rankings and Neb awards, over and over and over, and both have less and less meaning.
