I was reading this and enjoying it very much when I got hit in the face with a pet peeve.
"Nonplussed" does NOT mean "nonchalant" or "unfazed". It means "completely boggled" or "utterly confused".
So when your character is nonplussed because "they've seen it all before", you're using it wrong.
