I can say that anticipatory grief is something very real. In my world, my person was dying for so long that by the time she had actually left this world, there was still grief left to carry, but I had processed her death in many ways before she died. It's very different from when someone is lost in an instant, unexpected way.

I am so very sorry for your loss.
