For what it's worth, I ended up leaving Ace in the wake of the Random Penguin merger -- it was a disaster for the Penguin imprints and I haven't heard much good out of Del Rey or the other Random House ones. As a smaller imprint, DAW was -- to my eye -- always at risk of falling victim to bonehead executive power-play shenanigans, and is hopefully in a better place at Astra.
