I went through something like that when I was first diagnosed. I had been feeling miserable and cranky and snapping at everyone and generally hating life, but then when I went on insulin and got my blood sugar and everything else back under control, suddenly the world was much better.
The switch from injections to the pump didn't have the same effect, because I had pretty good control with shots ... I just had to take a *lot* of them to maintain control. But for someone who was struggling to control their blood sugar with shots, I could totally see the pump making a big difference to their mood and outlook if it allowed them to get things back under better control.
