I wish more people *would* say NO. Just flat-out. Just speak their minds. NO or DON'T or STOP. It annoys the hell out of me when I'm told (often days later) "Yeah, but you missed those very subtle clues I was sneaking at you!" And that may make me sound like I'm a bull in a china shop, but the opposite is true.
I'm talking about personal conversations that are continued for the sake of being polite. I say NO/STOP/DON'T often, and I sort of expect the same from others, while knowing that no, actually, I've got to read between the lines. I ask about boundaries, and what's the answer? "Oh, you'd never step on my toes, not you." Well, no. I wouldn't deliberately stamp on someone's toes, but I may well overstep a boundary that I have not been made aware of.
In short, I am not arguing with you. I'm just saying, why don't folks set MOAR boundaries?!
After all, no kind person *wants* to overstep and hurt/upset anyone else.
