Thank you for giving. I only got up to somewhere under two gallons before my health collapsed and I'm not allowed to give anymore. My life is dependent on people selling plasma to places like CSL Behring (my antibody supplier), Griffols, etc.
My wife was recently told to stop donating as she was diagnosed with a blood mutation/disorder that is classed as a cancer for research/treatment purposes but is not a 'malformed cells rapidly replicating' cancer. It has its own host of problems, but won't kill her in five years. She was also a multi-gallon donor. The interesting thing is one of the two main treatments for her condition is phlebotomy: only the blood is destroyed rather than used for helping others.
